Education plays a pivotal role in increasing awareness about issues that may seem unimportant. Very often our youths are taken to task for not observing rules, not acting properly. Well, it is often noted that our youths have never been told about what constitute a legal or illegal action. Hence, sensitisation and awareness sessions should be held in all schools in Mauritius.

Our youths are today’s future. They have to be empowered with the appropriate knowledge, skills, values to make them caring and contributing citizens of our society. Young people should be taught since their tender age, and this starts from home, about their actions. Being young, they are not biologically ready to be able to distinguish right from wrong. They often take things for granted. Hence, it is the duty of parents, school and the society at large to teach our youth about rigidity of work, belief in their own potential, respect for themselves and others, patience and humility. Young people should further be taught that they should remain true to themselves and to others and this is the only way for them to earn respect throughout.
